Evilo (Olive)(they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and DJ from Tongva (San Gabriel, CA), based in Lenapehoking (New York.) Their work moves fluidly across sound, sculpture, performance, and play guided by a deep curiosity about the relationships between humans, machines, materials, nature, and the cosmos. At the heart of their practice is a desire to reimagine how we relate to our tools, each other, and the invisible systems that shape our experience. Through custom-built instruments like Serenity Synth, a sculptural ensemble of synthesizers, MIDI controllers, and preamps, they create spaces for tactile exploration and shared sonic ritual. Inspired by ecological forms and the ephemerality of the natural world, their instruments invite a return to presence and play.
Their work often unfolds in participatory and immersive environments. As a DJ and musician, Evilo often draws from a hypnotic hard dance foundation, while drifting freely across shifting moods, tempos, and intensities. They are also the co-creator of Blabbi, an absurdist board game about made-up words and definitions, created with their sibling Adrian Yu. Equal parts silly and subversive, Blabbi questions the politics of language and celebrates radical linguistic imagination. It is currently available at Barnes & Noble.Their broader work includes styling, teaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration , always rooted in building systems that nurture intimacy, play, and new ways of sensing. Evilo’s work is a constellation linking the emotional, the material, the technological, and the cosmic—through sound, sensation, and systems reimagined.
They hold a bachelor’s in media studies and a M.P.S from ITP / NYU.
